Thank you, Wisconsin municipal and county clerks!

Dear Wisconsin Municipal and County Clerks,
To mark Clerk Appreciation Week (May 4 to 10, 2025), the undersigned nonpartisan organizations wish to celebrate you for the critically important role you play in your community.
Among your many important duties, we are particularly grateful for your work to ensure free, fair and secure elections across Wisconsin.
We value your public service all the more in light of the many challenges facing election officials today, both in our state and across the country. From a rapidly shifting legal landscape, to staffing and resource constraints, and to a reportedly growing volume of threats against election workers, we applaud you for your tireless service to Wisconsin’s voters.
At a time when it’s easier than ever to spread rumors and misinformation – and harder for voters to discern what is true and what isn’t – Wisconsin’s clerks play a critical role in building the public’s trust in our shared democracy. We deeply appreciate your work to educate voters, policymakers, and the public about Wisconsin’s electoral process – from helping Wisconsinites understand where, when, and how to cast their ballots, to explaining the robust checks and balances that ensure our elections are free, fair and secure.
We believe you are doing a tremendous job to win the public’s trust and to build confidence in our elections. With all eyes on Wisconsin’s elections in recent years, our state’s election officials have been in the national spotlight. Your diligent efforts to prepare for and administer Wisconsin elections are an inspiring example of public service.
The undersigned organizations know that a vibrant democracy would not be possible without you, your staff, and your volunteers. Wisconsin’s elections can be trusted because of the diligent work of dedicated election officials all over the state, from across the political spectrum, and at all levels of government.
Thank you.
